WINDOWS XP PRODUCT KEY
I am trying to open it up to use it but it begins with wanting my user information. I try to type in my 25 character product key that is on the side of my computer and it will not accept it. I of course can't get a hold of Dell, so I was hoping that somebody had an idea for me as to why this doesn't work.

First, of course they won't give you a product key for Windows, so why not use a known working key from someone else's computer. The product key has been on the Certificate of Authenticity for years. Further, the hard drive has to be tattoo'd for the recovery cd to work (to keep people from bootlegging).

It's looking for other copies using the same Product Key, as explained by Greg. This prevents you installing two copies with the same product key.
